“One of the most important documents in our Christian tradition is St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans.” -- Fr. Larry Hennessey
We find in St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans profound insights into what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Down through the centuries, this letter’s teachings on grace, faith, and salvation have had an enduring impact on personal spirituality and the broader community of the Church. St. Patrick’s Thursday Morning Scripture group will read and reflect on St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans during the 2024 fall session, which will meet for 8 weeks from October 3 through November 21. We will engage with the themes found in Romans to deepen our understanding of grace and salvation, to strengthen our faith, and to grow in our relationship with God.
The Thursday Morning Scripture Group has been meeting at St. Patrick’s for more than 20 years and is led by parishioner Susan Carlson, who holds a Master of Divinity degree. The group’s approach to the Scriptures is to combine study, prayer, reflection, and small group discussion. The group meets from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in the O’Gara Parish Activity Center. No previous Bible study experience is required – please join us!
In addition to the Bible, the group will use a Threshold Bible Study Commentary by Stephen Binz – Salvation Offered for All People: Romans. The fee to participate is $15, which covers the cost of the commentary. To register for the fall session, please contact Susan Carlson at
